CompBio CoLab - Kickoff Meeting
Are you a bioinformatics student or professional looking to break out of your silo, master a new specialty, or just have fun building cool projects with your peers?
Join us for our first workshop series in the CompBio CoLab—a grassroots, project-based workshop for the computational biology community. This will be a hands-on bi-weekly workshop where we learn by building together. At the start we'll form small teams to tackle exciting projects using public datasets in areas of your choice. Always wanted to dive into single cell transcriptomics? Curious about proteomics and deep learning? Want to know what all the fuss is about with AI agents? Toss your topic into the ring and dig in!
How It Works:
Meet bi-weekly: We gather virtually for 90 minutes of focused, collaborative work.
Hands-on projects: Spend the majority of your time in breakout rooms, pair-programming, analyzing data, and troubleshooting code and biology with your team.
Peer-led: Propose projects you're passionate about and learn together.
Build your portfolio: Contribute to a shared GitHub repository and walk away with a tangible project and new skills.
Who Should Attend: This workshop is designed for computational biologists, data scientists, software engineers, and wet-lab biologists with some foundational scripting experience in Python or R.
