Read in the Park - San Francisco π
βBring your book and read with us! π
βRead in the Park is a growing community of readers who gather at Golden Gate Park to read. We meet twice a month.
βπΒ How our events go
Picture a stretch of grass in Golden Gate Park, a scatter of blankets, and dozens of people quietly lost in their own books. We first read our own books, then break into small groups to get to know fellow readers and talk about what we're reading.
βHere are couple of pictures of how our events go!
βCome solo or bring a friend. Plenty of people show up alone.
βπΒ How the afternoon goes
2:00β2:30 pm β Arrive, register with the hosts, find a spot, and settle in
2:00β3:30 pm β Reading hour - arrive by 2 for the full 1.5 hours of reading
3:30β4:30 pm β Conversation hour - small groups, swap book recs, get to know each other
4:30β6:30 pm β Cafe hour - continue conversations at a local cafe nearby (Optional)
βπ Registration + bringing a friend
βOne registration is for one person only. If you're bringing a friend, please send them the event link so they can register for their own spot before coming.
βOur events often have a waitlist, and we plan the number of hosts and conversation moderators based on registrations. Having an accurate headcount helps us make sure everyone gets the experience we planned for.
βIf the event is full, please don't bring an unregistered guest. We really appreciate you leaving those spots for readers already on the waitlist. π
βAnd if your plans change, please update your RSVP so we can offer your spot to someone waiting to join.
βπΒ What to bring
β Your current read (physical book, Kindle, or audiobook)
β A blanket or something to sit on
β A jacket - the park gets windy
β A snack or drink if you'd like
βπΒ Getting there
Park is busy on weekends. If you're driving, aim to arrive a bit earlier with enough time to find parking. Free street parking goes fast, but public transit is a great option too. Our spot is 2-3 minutes walk from the 7, 28, and 29 bus stops on Lincoln Way and 19th Avenue.
βπΒ A note on photos
We may take a few photos and short clips for social. By attending you consent to being photographed but if you'd rather not be, just let us know when you arrive and we'll keep you out of frame.
βCome slow down with us.
βSee you in the Park! π
