About Event

Who is this for?

Do you want to shape technology legislation in New York?

Are you a regular user of technology who wants it to help as many New Yorkers as possible?

Do you want to meet other nice/cool/interesting people who are the same way?

Come to this event!

The problem:

Most of the people who use technology in their daily lives do not understand the policy process that regulates that technology. This causes two problems: citizens who are experts (professionals or regular users) in the technology of their choice do not interact with legislators, and legislators do not get vital input from active constituencies that could help shape good legislation.

S7263 ("Imposes liability for damages caused by a chatbot impersonating certain licensed professionals") is an example of this failure, and others. But it does not have to pass the legislature.

The solution:

We will be reviewing how legislation at the New York State level works, how to get involved, how to productively stay involved, and how to understand the process from the legislator/staffer's point of view. Daniel Golliher, founder of Maximum New York, will lead the overview of both the legislative process and S7263.
