Work In Progress - Standup Comedy in English
SHOW DESCRIPTION
Ever wondered where killer jokes come from before they hit the special?
The Work In Progress open mic brings you front-row access to comedy in the making. Every edition, six hungry up-and-coming comics get five minutes to test fresh riffs, unpolished gems, and raw material alongside two seasoned pros doing slightly longer sets breaking in their next big bits. It’s loose, unpredictable, and fast-paced. You might catch pure brilliant spontaneity or glorious experimental chaos. Either way, you get to say you heard it here first.
Doors open at 7:30PM. Show starts at 8PM.
FEATURED ACTS
RASHI AGARWAL
You may know Rashi, the tallest Indian in the Netherlands, from her viral videos on everything Dutch culture, along with tackling important social issues like feminism, ethical fashion, white privilege, and colonialism. Hailing from South India, she has become more Dutch than she would have liked, living here for six years, but still won't shy away from pointing out that 'cheese sandwich' is not 'lunch’. She is currently touring her one-hour special, Person of Color, across the Netherlands
KARAN KARTHIK
Karan Karthik, originally from Bangalore India, has been slowly making his moves on the Dutch comedy scene. A bearded Indian guy who's polyamorous with multiple partners living in the Netherlands for 5 years, is obviously known more for controversies than his comedy. This engineer turned event manager, turned psychologist, turned student counselor, now tells people what to do for a living. He talks about topics from racism to mental health to sexual fantasies to literally anything he can shrink down into his limited mind. He just wrapped up an Indo-European tour of his one-hour special, Any Color You Like, which will be streaming soon.
MEET YOUR HOST: KURIAKOSE VAISIAN
Kuriakose has been doing stand-up since 2017, joking about his life, his wife, his family at large, and Jesus Christ. That's a joke of course; he never makes jokes about his wife. He's performed in multiple cities across India and Europe, and has appeared on Comedy Central India's Sterling Reserve Comedy Project as well as PayTM Insider Live Mic sessions. Kuria's humor is a mix of observational and anecdotal, drawing a lot of inspiration from his own life and the things that happen around him. That includes the two kids he now has the privilege of being a father to. Heavy is the head that sees a baby crowning. He’s currently working on his one-hour special, Parental Advisory, which will start touring in 2027.
