Build tools that matter — grounded in the real challenges faced by those around us.
We don’t need more abstract ideals or dusty infrastructure no one uses. We need solutions that become the products of society — now. Your parents may not care about PGP or end-to-end encryption, but they rely on its derivatives every single day.
It’s time to create technology that fits its environment — tools people actually use. Let what you design, pitch, and build embody the true cypherpunk ethos: practical, principled, and ready for today’s world.
We’re building in a tech-agnostic space, where what you build matters more than how you build it. Plant the seeds today. Let’s grow something real.
Solidarity & Interdisciplinarity
We believe in unity at times of political separation. Privacy in web3 requires an interdisciplinary push engaging peers from developers to event producers.
W3PN_Hacks unites experienced Ethereum hackathon winners, OG hackers with 20 years of experience, internet surveillance experts, human rights organisations, social scientists, designers, etc. - everyone is welcome to develop a common language of Practical Privacy.
Practical knowledge from people who delivered &/are working on privacy-preserving apps [first batch of shapers]
Principles
Social layer - be open to people with different backgrounds, skill sets, geos, genders, nationalities, etc. Create a collaborative environment for plurality to thrive.
Real-world applications - focus on the stories that need privacy now. Real, alive, practical. Build the applications that can make a difference today.
Web2 + Web3 privacy - match the best of two worlds, so cultures will enrich each other.
