Artist Talk 艺术家讲座｜Desmond Mah + Rick Shi

​Artists Desmond Mah and Rick Shi will share insights into their practices and discuss the ideas behind their works in Cry Now, focusing on ecology and social structures.

​About the Artists：

​ Desmond Mah (b. 1974, Singapore; Singaporean-Australian, based in Boorloo/Perth) draws on the visual language of natural history illustration to examine colonial narratives, cultural memory, and systems of representation. Working across painting and expanded media, his practice explores structures of othering through an experimental, immersive approach.

​Rick Shi (b. 1993, China; based in Singapore) is an artist and curator working across painting, moving image, and visual narrative. His work investigates relationships between individuals, objects, and social systems, often transforming symbolic structures into layered, narrative-driven paintings.

​艺术家简介

​马福民（1974 年生于新加坡，现居澳大利亚珀斯）以自然史插图的视觉语言切入，关注殖民叙事、文化记忆及“他者化”的权力结构，创作涵盖绘画与跨媒介实践。

​石芮豪（1993 年生于中国，现居新加坡）是一位艺术家与策展人，创作横跨绘画、影像与视觉叙事，关注个体、物件与社会系统之间的关系。
