Volunteer Build Night with Adaptive Design Association — ADA x Women in Design NYC
How can design directly shape more accessible, inclusive everyday lives?
Join IDSA’s Women in Design NYC for a special community Volunteer Build Night in partnership with Adaptive Design Association (ADA). Together, we’ll spend an evening in ADA’s fabrication workshop transforming simple, everyday materials into custom adaptive equipment and educational tools that help children and adults with disabilities participate, learn, and thrive.
No prior fabrication experience is required. It’s an opportunity to come together for a meaningful evening and connect with fellow designers, get hands-on with purposeful making, and see firsthand how thoughtful design creates immediate, life-changing impact.
Spots are limited to 20 participants for our WID NYC community, and they go very fast!

Treat all participants, staff, volunteers, and visitors with kindness, dignity, and respect.
Foster an environment free from harassment, discrimination, intimidation, or disruptive behavior.
Follow all staff instructions and workshop safety procedures when using tools, equipment, and materials.
Use tools only after receiving appropriate guidance from staff.
Refrain from attending while under the influence of alcohol or illegal substances. Anyone who appears impaired may be asked to leave for the safety of themselves and others.
Help maintain a positive, collaborative atmosphere that reflects Adaptive Design's mission of creating opportunities for people with disabilities.

Photography and video may be taken during this event for educational, promotional, and fundraising purposes. By attending, you acknowledge that you may appear in photographs or recordings used by Adaptive Design Association in print, digital, and social media.
If you prefer not to be photographed or recorded, please notify a staff member upon arrival so we can respectfully accommodate your request.
PARTICIPANTS UNDER 18
Participants under the age of 18 are welcome with advance approval. A parent or legal guardian must complete any required consent forms prior to participation.
