About Event

This 1.5-hour tour explores landmarks connected to the cultural life of Tbilisi in the 19th and 20th centuries.

The tour follows Rustaveli Avenue and concludes near Rustaveli Metro Station. Along the way, participants will discover the history of culturally significant places, including caravanserais, museums, theatres, cinemas, cafés, clubs, and bookshops.

Many of these buildings have since disappeared or been significantly transformed. Their histories reflect the political changes and upheavals the country has experienced.

Through both their functions and architectural forms, these places are vivid examples of Tbilisi’s multicultural character. They are also places of memory, where the story of Georgia’s Europeanization can be clearly traced.
