Grant Writing & Strategy for Deep Tech | Training session with Grantwise
Winning grants, not just writing them
Join us at Science Creates for this Grant Writing & Strategy for Deep Tech training session with James MacFarlane from our service partner Grantwise — a free event open to Science Creates' members and external registrations.
Getting a grant can feel a lot like luck. You happened to spot the call, or someone mentioned the right competition at the right time. Yet some organisations win grant after grant, year after year, and for them luck is simply preparedness meeting opportunity.
In this 45-minute interactive session I want to change how you think about grants in your business, share a handful of the hints and tricks behind that, and turn grants from reactive opportunities into proactive investments.
🧐 What to expect…
The session will cover:
Choosing the right competition for your stage: what to look for as your company scales, when a small grant beats a large one (and when it does not), and regional vs national vs EU
Grant strategy: identifying the right project, the right competition and the right time, and switching from reactive to proactive
Show, don’t tell: writing proposals with a storytelling-first approach, so you leave with the tools to start winning more funding rather than just applying for it
After the session, James will be available for brief private conversations or you can let him know if there are topics you'd benefit from a deep dive which can be organised for a future virtual session.
Alternatively, you can continue networking downstairs at Bar 1023, open from 4.30-7.30pm.
This session is being delivered by Dr James MacFarlane, Founder of Grantwise and highly experienced in providing grant writing support for companies across the scope of Deep Tech and at various stages. In 15+ years he has helped 400+ organisations, from pre-incorporation spin-outs to FTSE 100 companies, win over £125M in non-dilutive funding from UK (Innovate UK, NIHR, Welsh Government, Scottish Enterprise) and EU programmes including the EIC and Horizon Europe. He is an active assessor for UKRI and so he knows what scores and what does not.
If you are unable to attend this session, but would like to be connected to James, please let us know at partnerships@sciencecreates.co.uk.
