Tareekh Pe Justice: Reforms for India's District Courts by Prashant Reddy Thikkavarapu and Chitrakshi Jain examines the dysfunction crippling India's trial judiciary. The district courts hear the largest number of cases and are the first point of contact for most Indians seeking justice, yet they remain plagued by chronic delays and adjournments. Rather than framing reform simply as a matter of more judges or funding, the authors point instead to the institutional factors that have created a chilling atmosphere for district judges, hampering their ability to deliver swift justice.

​Prashant Reddy Thikkavarapu studied law at the National Law School of India University and Stanford Law School. He has worked in law firms as well as in academia in India and Singapore. This includes stints at the National Academy for Legal Studies & Research (NALSAR) and the School of Law, Singapore Management University. He is also the co-author of "Create, Copy, Disrupt: India’s Intellectual Property Dilemmas", "The Truth Pill: The Myth of Drug Regulation in India", and most recently, "Tareekh Pe Justice: Reforms for India's District Courts"

Chitrakshi Jain is a legal researcher whose work focuses on judicial reform and access to justice in India. She studied law at the National Academy for Legal Studies and Research (NALSAR) and completed postgraduate studies in political science and law and governance at the University of Delhi and Jawaharlal Nehru University. She was a Senior Resident Fellow at the Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy, working in its JALDI (Justice, Access and Lowering Delays in India) initiative, and has since worked on regulatory governance and contract enforcement at the TrustBridge Rule of Law Foundation.
