Wiesner Labs 01: Quantum Finance & Quantum Crypto @ Encode Hub
Can Quantum Create New Forms of Money?
Quantum computers are expected to eventually break the cryptography securing trillions in digital assets. Yet the same physics may enable entirely new monetary primitives, the same way blockchain created Bitcoin in the 2000s. Few fields sit simultaneously at the intersection of physics, cryptography, and monetary design.
Wiesner Labs is the open research institute for quantum finance. Alongside Encode Club, we are hosting a seminar to examine how quantum can reshape fiat, digital assets, and money as we know it.
We'll cover:
How quantum breaks Bitcoin and what the timeline actually looks like
Quantum money schemes: from Wiesner's original insight to real implementations
The state of quantum key distribution and quantum communication networks
Where capital should be paying attention
Preliminary Programme:
Siddhartha Jain, Google Quantum AI
Stefano, Director & Co-CEO, NeverLocal, Oxford
Conor, CTO, Project 11
Yoni Ben-Shimon, YBS Capital
John Lilic, Quantum Money Fund
Dr Adrian Kent, S-money, Cambridge
Derya Karli, CEO, Sirius Quantum
A close-knit gathering of researchers, founders, and investors working across quantum cryptography and financial infrastructure. Material will be technical but accessible. Registration is required.
Dinner & drinks reception supported by Prelude — London's first-check venture firm for blockchain and crypto.
