AI in the Wild: Silicon Valley Backyard BBQ
Good conversations don't always happen in conference rooms. Sometimes the best ones happen around a backyard grill.
Join fellow Women Defining AI members for a relaxed afternoon of food, thoughtful conversation, and community as we gather in the heart of Silicon Valley for the next AI in the Wild experience.
We'll enjoy a casual backyard barbecue, share ideas over good food, and create space for the conversations we rarely have time for during conferences, Zoom calls, or busy workdays. Throughout the afternoon, we'll mix and mingle through a few lightly facilitated activities designed to help us connect, learn from one another, and explore what's next—for AI, our careers, and our lives.
Rather than a formal workshop or networking event, this gathering is about strengthening relationships, exchanging ideas, and creating space for authentic conversations in a welcoming, relaxed setting.
Along the way, we'll explore questions such as:
What's one AI tool, workflow, or idea that's genuinely excited you recently?
What challenge are you currently navigating that this community might help you think through?
What are you most curious to learn next?
Where do you see the greatest opportunities—or responsibilities—for women shaping the future of AI?
How can we continue supporting one another as this community grows?
WE HOPE PARTICIPANTS LEAVE FEELING...
Connected to an incredible community of women who are shaping the future of AI
Inspired by what we'll learn about and build together next
Energized by new ideas, perspectives, and conversations
Connected to new friends, collaborators, and future thought partners
Encouraged to stay engaged with the Women Defining AI community
FOOD
We'll provide the grill, along with burgers, veggie burgers, buns, and a few basics. We will also provide a few alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage options.
Potluck contributions are appreciated but completely optional. You may consider bringing:
Something you'd like to grill
Or a favorite appetizer, side dish, dessert, or beverage to share
GETTING HERE
Street parking is available throughout the neighborhood with a few spots available in the driveway. Carpooling is great! We're ~8–10 minute walk from the Downtown San Mateo Caltrain Station.
WHAT TO BRING
Comfortable clothing and shoes—we'll spend most of our time outdoors.
A light jacket or sweater for the evening if you'd like.
Your curiosity, favorite AI stories, and willingness to connect with others.
A QUICK NOTE: We have two small, friendly dogs—about the size of housecats—who may come by to say hello during the afternoon.
