Stjórnvöld hafa lagt fram áform í samráðsgátt um nýjar heimildir lögreglu til að starfrækja miðlægt löggæslumyndavélakerfi og nota gervigreind við vinnslu myndefnis, þar á meðal andlitsgreiningu og sjálfvirka greiningu skráningarnúmera.
Hvaða möguleika skapar slík tækni fyrir löggæslu og hvar eigum við að draga mörkin? Hvað getur tæknin raunverulega gert í dag, hvert stefnir þróunin og hvaða áhætta fylgir því þegar myndavélar, miðlæg gagnakerfi og gervigreind eru tengd saman?
Samtök um mannvæna tækni bjóða í opið kaffispjall um þessi áform stjórnvalda. Við viljum sérstaklega hvetja fólk sem þekkir vel til andlitsgreiningar, gervigreindar, myndgreiningar, persónuverndar eða löggæslutækni til að mæta og deila þekkingu sinni. Markmiðið er að læra hvert af öðru og skilja betur bæði möguleika tækninnar og þær samfélagslegu spurningar sem henni fylgja.

What possibilities does such technology create for law enforcement, and where should we draw the line? What can the technology actually do today, where is its development headed, and what risks are involved when cameras, centralized data systems, and artificial intelligence are linked together?
The Association for Humane Technology invites you to an open coffee chat about these government plans. We especially encourage people who are well-acquainted with facial recognition, artificial intelligence, computer vision, data privacy, or law enforcement technology to attend and share their knowledge. The goal is to learn from one another and gain a better understanding of both the technology's possibilities and the societal questions it brings.
