Build an AI-Powered Recipe App from Scratch 🥘

Join me for an immersive hands-on workshop where you'll build a complete, AI-powered recipe planning app from scratch using Cursor (an AI code editor that acts like a coding sous chef) and modern development tools.
You'll build an app with an AI agent that acts as your personal cooking assistant—answering questions about recipes, offering suggestions, and helping you plan meals. By the end of the day, you'll have a working application deployed and ready to share with friends and family.

Whether you're an experienced developer wanting to learn better mental models for working with AI agents, or you've never written code before and want a gentle, scaffolded introduction to software development—this workshop meets you where you are.
No prior coding experience required. We scaffold everything so you can focus on learning how to think about building with AI.
🎯 What You'll Build (The Menu) 🍽️
A working recipe planning application with AI features, ready to deploy and share by the end of the day.
You'll work through four core phases:
🧂 Prep Your Ingredients – Design your data schema and plan the structure of your app
🔪 Build the UI – Create a beautiful, functional interface using Cursor
🍲 Create API Interactions – Wire up your frontend to your backend
✨ Add the Secret Sauce – Integrate AI capabilities using the Gemini SDK

This workshop focuses on getting you building quickly with AI assistance. We won't cover commercial app development concepts like:
Authentication systems
Payment processing
Multi-user architecture
These are beyond what we can tackle in six hours, but you'll have a solid foundation to explore them afterwards.
✅ What You'll Need 🎒
A laptop with Cursor installed (you'll probably need a Cursor Pro subscription to get the most out of the day)
I encourage you to get some Cursor experience beforehand—when you register, I'll send you resources to help you get up to speed with what you need for the class
All other setup instructions will be provided beforehand
