Fraunhofer USA Center Midwest Open House
Come explore the research happening at Fraunhofer USA Center Midwest during our upcoming open house. Located on Michigan State University's campus, our center specializes in applied research that transforms scientific innovation into practical solutions for industry.
During the open house, visitors will be welcomed into our laboratories to explore the technologies and projects that define our work. This includes:
Diamond materials and devices: how we grow, process, and polish custom diamonds for electronics, optics, quantum sensing, and space applications
Thin film and advanced coatings: protective and functional surfaces for cutting tools, biomedical devices, packaging, and more
Water treatment innovations: electrochemical oxidation, plasma, and photocatalysis addressing pollutants like PFAS, pesticides, and disinfection byproducts
Additive manufacturing and materials processing: our 3D printing lab, working with high-performance plastics, metals, and ceramics
Electrochemical sensing and analysis: custom electrodes and sensing systems for environmental monitoring, biomedical diagnostics, and neurotransmitter detection
You'll also meet the scientists and engineers behind the work. They'll be on hand throughout the afternoon to answer questions and talk through how their research connects to real-world applications, locally and globally.
Whether you're a student, researcher, industry professional, or just curious about science and technology, you're welcome to join us. Light refreshments will be available.
