Medicine meets hardware. Come build something useful.
Spend a Saturday turning a healthcare idea into a prototype with people who bring different skills to the table.
Medicine × Hardware brings 32 students together in eight teams of four to build with hardware, software and AI. Think accessible communication, feedback during rehabilitation, or a tool that makes learning medicine easier. These are examples, not fixed challenges—you’re welcome to bring your own idea.
Who’s it for?
University students in Latvia studying medicine, engineering, software, design or another subject who want to make something useful. Beginners are welcome. You can apply individually, and we’ll help form teams with a mix of skills onsite. You don’t need a finished idea or previous hackathon experience.
What you’ll have to build with
Atech: hardware kits and technical guidance throughout the day.
Lovable: credits to build your project’s app or interface.
Fish Audio: API credits for projects using AI-generated speech.
Arbor Medical Korporācija: assistive communication equipment to explore through demonstrations.
RSU Innovation Centre is supporting the event and providing the venue. Eligible teams may also have the opportunity to continue developing their ideas through RSU’s INK programme.
How the day works
We’ll start at 09:00 with a welcome, team formation and a short introduction to the tools. Then most of the day is yours to build, test and get help as you go.
At 17:00, building stops. Each team gets three minutes to pitch and demo, followed by two minutes of questions from our three-person jury. We’ll finish with feedback, the winner announcement and next steps before closing at 19:00.

Apply by 3 November at 23:59 Riga time. Applications are reviewed before acceptance so we can bring together a mix of interests and skills.
Bring a laptop and charger. If you need help arranging a laptop, let us know in the application. Accepted participants will receive preparation instructions for the accounts and software needed before the event.
