Permaculture Design for the Climate Emergency
Join Alfred Decker (live) and Rosemary Morrow (recorded) on an interactive session at the Permaculture Barcelona Hub.
How does permaculture engage and respond to the Climate Emergency? In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn how permaculture concepts apply to a real life case and what adaptation strategies really work.
Rosemary and Alfred, two of permaculture’s leading educators, will present examples from around the globe: regenerative agriculture that puts carbon into the ground rather than the atmosphere; bioclimatic architecture creates houses that heat themselves in winter and cool themselves in summer without external energy inputs; and urban ecological landscape design that transforms cities.
After the presentations, participants will split up into design groups, examine the Hub site, and imagine how we can apply permaculture indoors and outdoors in adaptation to a rapidly changing climate. Co-facilitated by ESALogika, the Environmental Social Association of Barcelona, the design session will provide participants with experience in analysing, designing and re-imagining a neighbourhood in Barcelona to equip them with transferable skills.
The event is free but in order to anticipate the correct number of participants, we request that they purchase a ticket for either snacks, drinks, or both in advance. Early bird option available until September 27.
Doors open at 18h for socialising and networking, and then the information session starts at 18:30h and will end at 21:00h.
