Women Changemakers Gathering in Bali (Canggu)
A safe place for women and non-binary changemakers (and aspiring ones) to meet one another;
A small-scale gathering where you can genuinely connect — and actually spend time working alongside one another;
A community where you don't just network, but show up as you are and participate equally as an agent of change;
A space to share what you're working on, exchange ideas, offer support, and spark new collaborations;
A tribe you can return to — to build trust, intergenerational friendships, and a shared sense of momentum.
This is what this gathering is about.
Co-hosted by Alta H. and Santi Rahayu, and facilitated by Girls Be Change, this Women Changemakers Gathering brings you an evening of slow, hands-on journaling at Awan Connection, inspired by botanical collecting and herbarium traditions.
Bring a leaf, a flower, or a small found object from your day, and we'll guide you through pressing, arranging, and journaling around it — blending observation, memory, and reflection onto the page.
This kind of unplugged, hands-on evening is right in our cohost Alta's wheelhouse — she's also behind Craft Night (No Phones. Just Hands.), a digital-detox series built on this same slow, screen-free making, while our other cohost Santi brings her own instinct for storytelling as founder of Pariveśa, a media platform for conservationists and environmental storytellers.
Expect quiet, unhurried time with simple materials: pressed botanicals, washi tape, ink, and guided prompts to help your thoughts wander alongside your hands. No drawing or writing experience needed — just curiosity and a willingness to slow down.
Language: English
This gathering is open to women/womxn and non-binary changemakers (and aspiring ones).

What is the Women Changemakers Community Series?
The idea began in the summer of 2023 when two changemakers in Hong Kong, Carmen Chan (Girls Be Change) and Dorothy Lam (Dream Impact), questioned and envisioned what an ideal community looks like. We need a safe place among women changemakers to have organic meetups, intentional conversations, and idea exchange with social ease — to find inspiration and encouragement from each other, and build authentic friendships and support networks.
The first Women Changemakers Community Gathering was held in Hong Kong on March 8, 2024 at International Women's Day. Ever since then, Girls Be Change has partnered with 40+ organizations and gathered 400+ women changemakers in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore, Kenya, Tanzania, Denmark, Malta, Peru, and the US. With 25+ gatherings around the globe, a vibrant community of global women changemakers has been formed and connected — raising questions, exchanging ideas, and celebrating wins.
