The Present Moment Game
When we gather with others, conversation almost automatically drifts into what has already happened or what might happen next. Stories, plans, explanations, reactions—these patterns are so normal that we barely notice just how much we relate to one another through the lens of the past and the future.
But when those habits pause, something surprising occurs.
The room changes.
Attention sharpens.
A different kind of connection begins to emerge.
A small clearing inside awareness opens—a place where no future is rehearsing itself and no echoes from the past are allowed to enter. We can touch this space in solo contemplative practices, but it’s rare to enter it with others.
The Present Moment Game is a simple social meditation designed to explore that possibility.
For one hour, a small group agrees to step into this clearing and stay inside the moment. What unfolds is often unexpected—and never the same twice.
We call it a game because it can be playful. But it’s also something more: an invitation to discover what becomes possible when a group of people agree to be fully here, now, together.

Alli Magidsohn is the creator of The Present Moment Game, an experimental social meditation practice that offers a simple yet powerful way to drop into the Now. After being introduced to T-Group in 2018, Alli noticed that what interested her most wasn’t the relational mechanics of the practice, but the context itself—the felt sense of a group of people paying close attention to what was happening in real time. So she took the core context of T-Group—the present moment—and turned it into the actual subject of the inquiry. Inspired in part by the linguistic principles of E-Prime, she added a few simple constraints that gently guide conversation away from the past and future and into what's happening right now. The result is The Present Moment Game, a playful yet profound invitation to explore what it means to really be together in community, right here, now.
