The story behind the story ❤️
This book was born out of unbearable loneliness.
There's a phase you go through in life when the thing you crave most is human connection... yet it hurts to be around people. You want to belong, but you pull away from anyone who comes close. You wake up wishing you could go back to sleep.
1000 Days of Love was born from that place.
It's the story of Riya Shankar, a lonely twenty-five-year-old South Asian immigrant chasing a fresh start in San Francisco, and Sri Bellur, a man living with late-stage Parkinson's who is somehow more alive than anyone you've ever met.
It's not a love story.
But... It's a story about love ❤️

Meet the author 👋
Soundarya Balasubramani is the author of Admitted and Unshackled. Now, after 5 years and many sleepless nights, 1000 Days of Love is her third book and first novel. She was one of only fifteen writers selected from around the world for the Faber Academy novel-writing program in London in 2024.
Alongside writing, she's built one of the largest communities for skilled immigrants in America and reaches more than 10 million people every month on social media.
Meet the inspiration behind the novel 🥰
In July 2021, Soundarya received an introduction to someone named Rajesh Setty.
One email became thousands of conversations.
A stranger became family.
That relationship became the emotional seed behind 1000 Days of Love.
Rajesh has lived with Parkinson's since 2014, yet remains one of the most joyful people she (or really anyone) has ever met. He's a serial entrepreneur, 20x author, and someone whose generosity and capacity for love change everyone around him.
