About Event

Join us for discussion and exchange on how socio-bioeconomy can be more strongly integrated into the climate debate.

This event will highlight socio-bioeconomy's potential as a contribution from the Global South to the broader climate agenda. The discussion will explore how environmental goals, such as curbing tropical forest deforestation, can be linked to the socioeconomic objectives of sustainable development for local and traditional communities. While Brazil is far from being a model to be replicated, its experience offers valuable insights into how this agenda can be translated into public policies and support instruments worldwide. This event also provides an opportunity to critically discuss existing limitations, challenges, and areas for improvement.

Speaker:

He is a PhD candidate in Economics at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and currently a visiting PhD student at the Conservation Development Lab (CDL), University of Cambridge. He holds a Master's degree in Sociology from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), where his dissertation received the 2018 NEAD/SOBER Award for Best Dissertation in Rural Sociology, and a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of São Paulo (ESALQ-USP).
