Hosts

Alita Carbone (Impact Science Ventures)- After years of regularly traveling, investing, and community building in the Bay, she's now a proud new resident of Ross, Alita Carbone is an investor at emerging VC fund manager ISV supporting extraordinary early-stage founders and teams commercializing science-based technologies across energy, manufacturing, materials, and agriculture.

With founding roots at Activate, one of the world's premier deep tech accelerators. ISV’s three-year old Fund I consists of 2 unicorns and has invested in market leaders such as Antora (zero-emissions industrial heat), Brimstone (industrial material breakthrough in alumina and cement), and Fervo Energy (24/7 geothermal energy).

Prior to joining ISV, Alita served as Senior Director of Corporate Development & Strategy at Claros Technologies, a University of Minnesota spin-out company where she notably helped close a $22M Series A2 financing for their industrial wastewater technology for PFAS destruction.

Alita served on the investment team that led the Series A financing in Claros, a venture capital / growth equity emerging fund manager in Portland, Oregon called 3x5 Partners with over $400M+ raised across 3 funds and dozens of SPVs.

While at 3x5 Partners and prior to its acquisition by American Century Investments (an amazing outcome for an emerging fund manager), Alita invested in passionate entrepreneurs developing innovative healthcare and climate solutions for human and planetary health (life sciences, medical devices and diagnostics & energy, ag, water, waste & recycling, grid tech). Select activities while on the team at 3x5 Partners include investments in EnzicKoyaFervo, and SOURCE and liquidation events such as Pfizer's acquisition of Amplyx Pharmaceuticals (2021) and Roche's acquisition of Good Therapeutics (2022).

Alita started her career as an Investment Banking Analyst (SERIES 63/79 certified) at William Blair in Chicago in the industrial technology coverage group after graduating from the University of Chicago with General and Departmental Honors.

Jason Holt (Orion Industrial Ventures)- Jason Holt joined Orion Industrial Ventures (OIV) as a Partner in 2023. OIV is an Industrial Decarbonization fund with a focus on the critical minerals sector. He has over 25 years of experience in the climate and sustainability field, spanning roles in R&D, entrepreneurship, and investing. Prior to Orion, he was a Partner with Baruch Future Ventures, a leading ClimateTech venture capital firm, where he developed investments theses in a number of different verticals, sourced and diligenced investment opportunities, and worked closely with a number of management teams in the portfolio. Jason previously founded two ClimateTech startups - Heliotrope Technologies (low-cost electrochromic windows) where he was the founding CEO and a Director and NanOasis (high efficiency reverse osmosis membranes, acquired 2012) where he was CTO and a Director. Prior to these startups, Jason was a Staff Scientist at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, serving as Principal Investigator on several projects in advanced separations technologies. He has a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering (Summa Cum Laude/Phi Beta Kappa) from UC Irvine.
