About Event

Hood Futures Studio x Decolonising the Archive are honoured to host Dr Marcus Goffe (LLB) in conversation with Connie Bell (DTA). Together, they'll open space for deep reflection on what it means to own our past, shape our present, and co-author a future through archiving.

"Dr Marcus Goffe is an Attorney-at-Law who specialises in intellectual property law and the protection of traditional knowledge, traditional cultural expressions and the rights of indigenous and local communities. He is regularly consulted by the Maroon communities in Jamaica and is committed to supporting their sustainable development."

This talk sets the political and conceptual foundation for the Hood Futures Studio community archive, examining the intersections of land, history, and memory as sites that retain new opportunities, time-capsuled knowledge, research data and co-creation.

In 2026, Hood Futures Studio and Decolonising the Archive will collaborate to deliver a radical archivist training programme, more TBA soon.
