Threads of Identity Talk & Creative Workshop

​Threads of Identity is an illustrated talk and interactive creative workshop exploring the stories held within a Caribbean woman's 1950s cocktail dress. Through photography and heritage practice, the session considers clothing as a carrier of memory, migration, glamour and cultural identity. Participants will explore Caribbean heritage, colonialism, racism in the fashion industry, making and remaking, protection, resilience and the joy of self-expression. The session concludes with an interactive creative activity inviting participants to respond to a garment, textile or object connected to their own identity and family story.
