Offering Description
Ekayāna: Being Dharma, a yearlong, self-paced, online journey of study and practice offered through Sacred Mountain Sangha. This transformative course is grounded in a unique synthesis of Theravāda (Thai Forest), Mahāyāna (Pure Land & Chan/Zen), and engaged Dharma traditions.
The training is structured around six “baskets” of transmission, offered over four modules:
Samādhi & Ethics – Embodied Unification
Foundational mindfulness and breath-based practices for inner balance, gatheredness, and healing, including developing core spiritual strengths.Vipassanā – Insight into the Deathless
Classical insight teaching on impermanence, non-self, and liberation from suffering.Chan/Zen – Kuan Yin Dharmas
Turning the hearing inward through subtle Mahāyāna meditation practices, including Hua Tou/Koan informed by the Heart Sutra and Shurangama Sutra.Sacred Sound – Mantra & Chant
Devotional technologies using sacred names and dhāraṇī’s (mantras) to awaken presence and protection.Ceremony & Blessing
Rituals of refuge, renewal, and inter-being rooted in Kuan Yin’s merciful response.Sacred Activism (new module)
Integrating inner freedom with outer engagement through Dharma-informed responses to systemic harm and climate crisis.
This course offers 36 lessons over three core modules and an additional 6-lesson Sacred Activism module. We’ll be there ourselves, alongside SMS teachers, to support you at two bi-monthly sessions online. One will be a sangha group check-in with and Q&A with an SMS teacher, and the second monthly meeting will be a practice session guided by a practice leader. The course can be taken at your own pace, with each lesson designed for about 2–3 hours of engagement per week. Please find out more here and meet our facilitator team.
Drawing on decades of combined Dharma practice, we aim to focus less on academic study and more on embodied realization in the spirit of Ajahn Chah’s teaching: “Read the book of the heart.”
All are welcome. The course is offered on a sliding scale, including equity pricing and scholarships. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.
We hope you can join us on this sacred path of awakening and compassionate response as we meet the challenges and potential of these times.
