Houston Witch Paddle 2025 - Second Annual
Join us for Houston's second annual Witch Paddle! Inspired by the growing popularity of "witch paddles" nationwide (see NY Times article below), we are holding Houston's second annual Witch Paddle on Sat 10/25 (rain date Sun 10/26).
Last year's was a huge success, with 20+ paddlers, and was written up in the Houston Chronicle (link).
Please join us in wearing your finest Halloween attire, ideally witch / wizard themed.
UPDATE FOR 2025: For ease of access, this year we're doing an out-and-back paddle, beginning and ending at Allen's Landing.
We'll paddle from Allen's Landing, historic birthplace of Houston, west up Buffalo Bayou through Buffalo Bayou Park (to Waugh, or Shepherd if you're feeling adventurous), then back to AL.
Crucially, we will thus have access to rental paddle-craft from Buffalo Bayou Kayaks. They rent both kayaks and paddleboards - please give them a call / shout online to secure a craft.
We'll launch around 10a and will be done by 2p; this is an easy and no-stress route (no whitewater, etc.), suitable for kayaks, paddleboards, canoes - all of which are welcome.
This is an informal, self-organized, DIY event, so everyone will need to bring their own gear (including life vests and whatever you'll be paddling), unless you rent from BBK above.
Excited to see folks!
