LISA Presents: Fireside chat with Will MacAskill
Following EAG London this May, join LISA for a fireside chat with Will MacAskill.
Will is a co-founder of Forethought, an AI macrostrategy group focused on how civilisation can navigate the transition to advanced AI. His recent work spans AI character and model specs, AI-enabled coups, deals with AIs to reduce misalignment risk, and what good post-AGI futures might look like.
Previously, Will was Associate Professor of moral philosophy at the University of Oxford. He co-founded the effective altruism movement, along with Giving What We Can, 80,000 Hours, and the Centre for Effective Altruism, and authored Doing Good Better and What We Owe the Future - a New York Times bestseller making the case for longtermism.
This is a fitting moment to hear from Will on the most pressing challenges in AI safety today.
The chat will be hosted by Shakeel Hashim. Shakeel is the editor of Transformer, a publication about the power and politics of transformative AI. He was previously a journalist and editor at The Economist and Protocol, and head of communications at the Center for Effective Altruism.
