Greener Solutions Final Presentations | UC Berkeley BCGC
Join the UC Berkeley Center for Green Chemistry for the Greener Solutions 2026 Final Presentations, where interdisciplinary graduate student teams will showcase innovative approaches to designing safer chemicals and materials.
Through the Greener Solutions course, students collaborate with industry partners to address real-world sustainability challenges, applying green chemistry principles and alternatives assessment to identify solutions that reduce chemical hazards while maintaining performance.
This year's projects address several critical challenges in materials innovation:
lululemon | Safer Antimicrobial and Odor-Control Chemistries for Textiles: Identifying safer alternatives to zinc pyrithione for antimicrobial and odor-control applications in textiles.
WD-40 | Safer Anti-Wear Additives: Exploring alternatives to conventional anti-wear additives to improve the safety profile of lubricant formulations.
Terraferno | High-Performance Adhesives for Extreme Conditions: Identifying safer adhesive chemistries capable of performing under the demanding conditions of geothermal drilling.
Ryan Thaner | Safer Crosslinkers for Coatings: Developing alternatives to isocyanate crosslinkers used in polyurethane coatings.
Join us to hear students present their research, explore emerging safer chemistry solutions, and engage with the next generation of green chemistry innovators.
The presentations will be followed by a networking lunch, a fantastic opportunity to connect with students, project partners, and members of the green chemistry community.
