Global Catastrophic Wildfire Prevention Day 2026

October 13th, 2026

Aligned to the

International Day of Disaster Risk Reduction 2026

What is the “State of Catastrophic Wildfire Prevention, Mitigation and Resilience in 2026? What has happened since 2021? What needs to happen now in our sector for us to get to where we want to go in our sector of catastrophic wildfire prevention?

In honor of the United Nation's International Day of Disaster Risk Reduction on October 13th, 2026, Catastrophic Wildfire Prevention Consortium (CWPC) at CrowdDoing and ARISE-US (affiliated with the United Nations Office of Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) are holding the second Global Catastrophic Wildfire Prevention Day.

ARISE was established by UN Secretariat for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) with this mission: “To create risk-resilient societies by energizing the private sector in collaboration with the public sector and other stakeholders…”

Catastrophic Wildfire Prevention Consortium invites the global community of catastrophic wildfire prevention innovators and ecosystem to co-create the day with us. To extend collaboration, CWPC and ARISE-US are inviting organizations to co-host their own events on Global Catastrophic Wildfire Prevention Day. To facilitate cross-pollination and a unified calendar for the day, you can submit each of your events via our collective Luma calendar. Complete the application to submit your ecosystem event for consideration and potential inclusion by our consortium to have it be an official part of Global Catastrophic Wildfire Prevention Day schedule. Approved event submissions meet the criteria of furthering global innovative approaches to mitigating catastrophic wildfire prevention

We share with the International Day of Disaster Risk Reduction the mission of catastrophic wildfire mitigation - which aligns to our year-round Catastrophic Wildfire Prevention Consortium initiatives, including organizing innovation showcases, community collaborations (e.g. using our wildfire resilience scorecard) research, and network participation. Collaborate with us to help get wildfire prevention aligned to global institutional and individual opportunities for disaster risk reduction.

Our virtual symposium of experts, innovators and stakeholders recognize the “Global Catastrophic Wildfire Prevention”. In 2021, we introduced “Global Catastrophic Wildfire Prevention Day” - as a "holiday within a holiday" or a “holiday aligned to a holiday.” or “day of recognition”.

We are organizing a symposium-level event of virtual sessions with expert speakers and cross-sector stakeholders to highlight some of the most value-added, innovative solutions for preventing wildfires. People from diverse disciplines and expertise can help us better understand the value created for stakeholders in every wildfire we prevent.

We have identified aligned stakeholders that include corporate interests aligned to wildfire prevention, government agencies, citizen science for catastrophic wildfire prevention measures, actual case studies, and a research network and international nexus level.

Our goal is for all efforts collectively to reach the scale required for catastrophic wildfire prevention - by highlighting the value created across the whole ecosystem (stakeholders, government, academia, companies, industry, etc.)  We believe connecting key players and innovations can accelerate and catalyze efforts to prevent catastrophic wildfires in the future. We invite a variety of virtual convenings: panels, workshops, interactive collaboration, networking, and experiences.

Your advice and perspective is welcome. Let’s explore ways to collaborate. We look forward to identifying a time when we can discuss possibilities. Contact us at contact@preventwildfire.world.
