An Alternate Vision for AI: Future-building with RAD Collective
You're gonna want a seat at this table.
Are you tired of feeling like nothing you do matters?
After years of being asked to deal with the reality of the status quo, and being told that there wasn't anything we could do to change it, we have all been made to feel too comfortable with being uncomfortable.
During this last and most brutal year in America, I hit a hard reset on my life as it was. When I returned, I wanted to ask more of what was possible.
What I've found that the antidote to frustration and burn-out is two things: community and shared capabilities. When we share common ground, our unique skills might find a place to create real change.
Dinners for the 99% intends to create a space to foster that change. It brings a curated group of smart people from varied backgrounds together with those who are working on the front lines of an issue. When you attend a dinner, you'll learn something new, meet a new group of peers, and walk away with more clarity and drive.

People who care, but feel powerless

On tonight's theme: AI
Whether you love it or hate it, and whether you are completely out of the loop or you're part of the training loop itself, there's a seat for you.
First, we'll take a deeper look at AI beyond the surface level, with hands-on demos and beyond-mainstream knowledge about AI, along with what's been working in the fight against AI takeover, before opening up to an informal discussion and reflective alternate vision-building.
The goal of the evening: challenge assumptions and develop a collective counternarrative to fight back. As consumers and members of the workforce, we have more power than corporations would like for us to believe. We'll walk away with a shared vision and strategies for action.
About the speakers:

He is also an activist and organizer, current co-lead of the Resisting Automated Disempowerment Collective (RAD Collective), and co-founder of Rowan University YDSA (formerly Rowan for Bernie 2020 and Rowan Progressives).
Bryce Rogers is a mechanical engineer in the food industry. He co-leads the Resisting Automated Disempowerment (RAD) Collective with the goal of collaboratively laying the groundwork for future humans to thrive in a world increasingly shaped by AI and other powerful technology.
About RAD Collective:
RAD (Resisting Automated Disempowerment) Collective deliberately pushes back against the "doomer" narrative they see as industry-influenced, while still taking existential risk seriously. Their activist work covers job loss, AI's influence in politics, quality of life, and democratic accountability.
