How many Albertans are struggling to afford a suitable home, who are they, and where do they live? Sultan Aitekenov, Senior Data Analyst with Alberta's Ministry of Assisted Living and Social Services, uses 2021 Census and Canadian Housing Survey data to explore these questions. He'll compare the scale of need against the province's housing programs, then zoom into the map to show how need and supply line up across communities and Edmonton neighbourhoods.
🎤 Speaker: Sultan Aitekenov
Sultan Aitekenov is a Senior Data Analyst with the Housing Division of Alberta's Ministry of Assisted Living and Social Services (ALSS), where his work focuses on measuring and mapping housing need across the province. He builds analytical products including interactive housing-need maps, dashboards in Power BI and Microsoft Fabric, and predictive models. His analysis supports ALSS and the housing providers it funds, such as Civida, Calgary Housing Company, in directing resources toward the communities and household types with the greatest need.
