Tethics & Chill at The Bench [NYC Breakfast]: AGI Governance & World Models w/ Google DeepMind’s Dan Altman & Bilva Chandra
About Event
We’re excited to welcome Dan Altman and Bilva Chandra from Google DeepMind for our next Tethics & Chill breakfast in NYC, co-hosted with the Bench.
Dan Altman is a member of the Frontier Safety & Governance team at Google DeepMind, conducting research on the geopolitical implications of powerful AI and supporting the development and implementation of DeepMind’s frontier safety framework and governance initiatives across the organization.
Dan will be in conversation with Bilva Chandra, who leads the multimodal responsibility workstream, including leading research and risk assessments on world models at GDM.
Please join Dan and Bilva for an in-person installment of Tethics & Chill in Chinatown. Over breakfast on Tuesday, February 24th, we’ll explore:
How DeepMind conceptualizes geopolitical, biosecurity, and systemic risks tied to advanced AI capabilities and the landscape of approaches to mitigate them.
What DeepMind considers “AGI risks,” what they’re preparing for, and how they’re working with public institutions on readiness and safety.
Ethical risk models for multimodal and world-model generation.
What new governance and safety frameworks may be required as world models become a training ground for autonomous agents and a key capability on potential paths toward AGI.
We'll get started by 9:15am and have a chance to mingle with friends after hearing from Dan and Bilva.
Stay tethical,
Zoe, Matt, and Natalie
