AI Working Retreat for Nonprofit Professionals
Most AI trainings hand you tips and send you back to your desk to figure out the rest. This one's different: it's a working retreat. You'll spend the day building things you actually need - and walk out with drafts in hand, not just notes.
By the end of the day, you'll have:
A better understanding of aspects to consider for your organization's AI policy
A new or updated job description, drafted with AI, for a role you're actually filling or plan to fill
An onboarding checklist
A reusable AI setup you can keep using long after the retreat ends
How it works
A pre-survey shapes the agenda before you even walk in, so the day builds from where your team actually is and not a generic starting point. You'll work in tables grouped by tool (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or Copilot). This is hands-on the whole way through: five 45-minute working blocks, structured guidance, and real output at the end of each one.
Who it's for
Nonprofit operations professionals - the people managing hiring, onboarding, policy, and the dozen other admin systems that keep an organization running. If you're the one who ends up writing the job descriptions, building the checklists, and figuring out "should we even be using AI for this," this day is built for you. If you're not in ops, you are also welcome to attend!
Your facilitator
Sarah Dillard is the founder of You & AI and one of the earliest voices on how leaders and institutions need to adapt to generative AI. She wrote the first education-sector op-ed on ChatGPT, advises Harvard Business School on its AI-native entrepreneurship program, and spent years as a consultant at Bain & Company. She holds an MBA and MPP from Harvard and a BA from Duke. Since March 2025, she's worked directly with leaders from more than 100 organizations across education, philanthropy, and the broader social sector.
