​Omarchy is a new Linux distro meant to welcome new macOS and Windows users who get tired of updating their OS with features they don't need, and to give people a chance to have fun and learn something new.

​Omarchy is also the first Agentic OS, really; you just ask Claude, Codex, or Agents of Trust to make the font bigger, change the theme, or fix a bug. All is just one prompt away. That's why the plugins for Omarchy are exploding: 1,000+ plugins after a week of opening the plugin marketplace.

​There's so much more; that's why we need an event to nerd out 😀.

​What to expect

​This event is quite open; I'd suggest that I (Simon) would showcase how I used Omarchy last year, how the transition from Windows to macOS was after using macOS for the last 15 years, and why I genuinely like the OS. It's based on Arch Linux and Hyprland (a tiling window manager), so it's quite low-level, but is it for everyone to use? That's what I can explain as a daily user for 1+ years. But if you have an installation, bring it, or maybe we even have time to install if you have an old laptop laying around, installation time is only 1-3 min, all you need is a USB stick and we are off to go. I can bring 1-2 as well.

​Good to know

​Bring your old laptops that haven't been used anymore and are lying around. Even old MacBooks that won't run macOS anymore work like a new computer with Omarchy. They just need an Intel chipset, not Apple Silicon (there's a way, but it's more time-consuming).

​Was euch erwartet

​Diese Veranstaltung ist recht offen gestaltet; ich (Simon) werde wohl vorstellen, wie ich Omarchy im letzten Jahr genutzt habe, wie der Umstieg von Windows auf macOS verlief, nachdem ich die letzten 15 Jahre macOS verwendet habe, und warum mir das Betriebssystem wirklich gefällt. Es basiert auf Arch Linux und Hyprland (einem Tiling-Window-Manager), ist also recht low-level – aber ist es für jeden geeignet? Das kann ich als Nutzer, der es seit über einem Jahr täglich einsetzt, erklären. Aber wenn ihr eine Installation habt, bringt sie mit – oder vielleicht haben wir sogar Zeit für eine Installation, falls ihr einen alten Laptop herumliegen habt. Die Installation dauert nur 1–3 Minuten; ihr braucht lediglich einen USB-Stick, und schon kann es losgehen. Ich kann auch 1–2 mitbringen.

​Gut zu wissen

​Bringt eure alten Laptops mit, die nicht mehr benutzt werden und herumliegen. Selbst alte MacBooks, auf denen macOS nicht mehr läuft, funktionieren mit Omarchy wie ein neuer Computer. Sie benötigen lediglich einen Intel-Chipsatz, kein Apple Silicon (es gibt zwar eine Möglichkeit, aber die ist zeitaufwändiger).​Das Ziel
