About Event

Join us on Oct 27th for an evening journey on Social Entrepreneurship!

Interested in learning more about social entrepreneurship and social enterprises? CMU Alumnae, Leah Lizarondo (Heinz College), and Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the Swartz Center for Entrepreneurship, will be walking through her journey to translate social impact to reality.

Leah will also talk about the Swartz Center's McGinnis Venture Competition and its Social Enterprise Prize track, as well as the pathway to entering the $1M Hult Prize - the largest global pitch competition for students with startups addressing our biggest challenges.

All students across campus are welcome to attend!


Meet the Speaker: Leah Lizarondo

Leah Lizarondo is a world-renowned social entrepreneur and global leader focused on climate action. She is the Founder of Food Rescue Hero, a technology platform used in over 25 cities that has successfully redirected over 175 million pounds of food from going to waste. Her innovative work has been widely featured on CNN, NPR, The Today Show, and The Washington Post.

Leah has earned major recognition, including Fast Company’s World Changing Ideas Award and inclusion on the Grist 50 list. She received her graduate degree in Public Policy & Technology from Carnegie Mellon University.
