FROM NDC COMMITMENTS TO CORPORATE ACTION: INTEGRATING CLIMATE RISK AND EMISSIONS REDUCTION INTO BUSINESS STRATEGY
Nigeria’s transition towards a low-carbon and climate-resilient economy presents both significant challenges and opportunities for the private sector. As the country advances the implementation of its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement, businesses are increasingly operating within a changing landscape shaped by evolving climate policies, investor expectations, market requirements, and growing demand for credible emissions reduction.
From NDC Commitments to Corporate Action: Integrating Climate Risk and Emissions Reduction into Business Strategy will bring together business leaders and key stakeholders to explore how companies can translate Nigeria’s climate commitments into practical corporate action.
The dialogue builds on the UN Global Compact Network Nigeria’s ongoing engagement with the private sector on climate and sustainable development priorities, including efforts to gather business perspectives towards the development of NDC 3.0. It also builds on the Network’s webinar, “From Emissions to Enterprise Value: Building GHG Inventories and Science-Based Targets for Nigerian Business,” taking place on 27 August 2026, which will introduce companies to GHG accounting, science-based targets, and approaches to prioritising emissions-reduction opportunities.
The September dialogue will take the conversation a step further, examining how businesses can connect emissions-reduction efforts with climate risk management, national climate priorities, and broader business strategy. The session will provide a platform for participants to share practical experiences, explore emerging opportunities, and discuss the barriers businesses face in integrating climate considerations into decision-making.
Join us for a timely conversation on how Nigerian businesses can move from climate commitments to credible action, strengthening resilience, reducing emissions, and creating long-term business value.
