AI and People-to-People Cooperation in the Common Mediterranean Space
Join EuroMedAI for an interactive dialogue on AI and People-to-People Cooperation in the Common Mediterranean Space.
Organised ahead of the Day of the Mediterranean, the event takes inspiration from this year’s campaign, “What connects us?” We will explore how AI can support exchanges across languages, cultures and communities—and what responsible cooperation requires in practice.
The discussion connects the people-to-people dimension of the Barcelona Process with the Pact for the Mediterranean’s priorities around people, skills, research and digital cooperation.
Through short contributions, practical examples and an open discussion, we will explore:
Languages and cultural representation: How do AI tools represent Mediterranean languages, traditions and local knowledge? Where do they help, and where do they miss context?
AI literacy and trust: How can communities assess AI outputs, recognise bias and make informed choices?
Cooperation across borders: What can civil society, researchers, educators and technical practitioners develop together?
Both community and technical perspectives are welcome, including multilingual model evaluation, responsible data practices and applications addressing shared needs.
The session aims to identify one practical joint activity that interested participants can take forward, such as a shared evaluation exercise or an AI literacy workshop connecting communities across the region.
Open to EuroMedAI members and anyone interested in responsible AI, intercultural dialogue and Mediterranean cooperation.
