Heart of Country – From a dry river to a flood of resistance: voices rising to defend Country
When Country speaks, we must listen.
At Climate Action Week Sydney, we invite you to join Josie Alec, proud Kuruma Marthudunera woman, First Nations Lead at the Australian Conservation Foundation, acclaimed artist, teacher and storyteller, for a special screening of the powerful Heart of Country film.
Through breathtaking storytelling and deep connection to Country, Josie will share what the climate crisis actually feels like on the ground, from waters running dry along the Jajiwurra (Robe) River to threatened songlines and Country under threat.
After the screening, ACF’s new CEO Adam Bandt, one of Australia’s most recognisable voices for climate justice, will join Josie alongside Gomeroi Elder, Polly Cutmore; and Rikki Dank & Sanjit Paul, Directors of Gudanji For Country, for a raw and honest conversation about what’s happening now, what’s at stake, and how the Australian Conservation Foundation intends to build a formidable people-powered movement to defend Country, water, culture and climate together.
There will be open space for your questions, transforming this one-off screening into a collective call to action and connection.
From fury to action, to hope, this is an event that can't be missed.
Come for the film. Stay for the dialogue. Leave ready to act for Country, climate and justice.
Entry is free, but must be booked in advance.
