🎙️ HUX AI Research Internship 2026 – Webinar Series #6

Topic: Responsible OpenSource: DeepFace’s Role in War Crime Identification and Election Monitoring
Speaker: Şefik İlkin Serengil, Neo4j

📎 About: Şefik İlkin Serengil

"I received my MSc in Computer Science from Galatasaray University in 2011.

I have been working as a software engineer since 2010.

I am a West Londoner, but I am a true Istanbulite at heart.

My research interests are Machine Learning and Cryptography. I’ve published several research papers about these motivations. Also, I enjoy speaking to communities about these disciplines. Moreover, I enjoy to contribute open source projects.

I am a Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) for developer technologies since ’24 and Neo4j Ninja 🥷 since ’22.

The blog tagline – 💬 code wins arguments – comes from the mantra of Mark Zuckerberg. I heavily believe in this culture. The best way to build something new is prototyping and seeing it works instead of debating for days. Hence, you will find hands-on experiences I had in this blog.

In addition to these, my hobbies are watching movies 🎬, homebrewing 🍺 and growing cactus🌵."

About Webinar:   DeepFace’s unexpected roles in war crime identification and election fairness monitoring illustrate the immense responsibility embedded in open-source AI infrastructure. Drawing from these critical use cases, this session will discuss actionable frameworks for scaling computer vision technologies responsibly within institutional contexts while mitigating operational and ethical risks.

🔒 Please note: This is a limited-capacity, invitation-based session intended primarily for HUX AI Research Interns and community collaborators. This one is a public event.

We look forward to an engaging and insightful session!
