digital privacy workshop
Digital Privacy Basics (and What Actually Works)
Your data is being harvested, sold, and used against you — by companies, by cops, by whoever's buying. This isn't a doom talk. It's a working session.
We'll cover:
The tools that actually protect you (password managers, ad blockers, email, browser — 15 min of setup that pays off forever)
What's mostly theater vs. what actually costs data brokers money
Where Austin's surveillance fights stand right now — including a live one in our backyard you probably haven't heard about yet
Then we get hands-on. Bring your laptop and phone — we'll install stuff together, fix the annoying setup steps, and leave with your accounts actually locked down. No "homework," no "go figure it out later."
📍 2105 Pearl St — my living room, so it's small. RSVP so I know how many chairs to find.
🎒 Bring: laptop, phone, whatever passwords you can remember for now.
This is for UT students and anyone in Austin who wants to actually do something about this instead of just feeling bad about it.
