How Experts Actually Use AI
How Industry Experts Use AI to Enhance Their Work
Personal, practical perspectives beyond generic AI workflows
Taiwan AI Startups Community is an IRL-first community bringing together founders, engineers, researchers, students, and operators who are actively building and using AI in Taiwan. The community exists to create a clear meeting point for Taiwan’s AI ecosystem — connecting people across disciplines and stages, and focusing on real experience over theory or hype.
For our first public event, we’re exploring a simple but grounded question:
How do individual experts actually use AI in their own work today?
Rather than presenting end-to-end “AI workflows for an industry,” this session focuses on personal usage: how AI fits into daily thinking, research, product building, and decision-making — and where its limits still are.
Speakers will share:
How AI supports their individual work in practice
Where it creates real leverage, and where it doesn’t
Trade-offs, constraints, and lessons learned from real usage
How individual practices may scale into broader impact
Speakers
Ben Sadeghi — Founder perspective
Ben is an ex–Y Combinator founder and CTO with a background spanning large-scale data systems, AI, and startups. He is currently building omoomi, an offline-first, privacy-aware AI companion designed to support learning and human connection. Ben will share how founders use AI as a thinking partner and product-shaping tool, beyond simple automation.
Gareth Kennedy, PhD — Research & applied AI perspective
Gareth originally worked as a scientist in Australia, Spain, Germany and China and transitioned into AI in industry in Shanghai. Since then, he established and led a team safeguarding AI using MLOps for government and enterprises in Deloitte Australia while maintaining industry-academia positions at an astrophysics center of excellence and 2 universities. He has published papers and spoken internationally on the application of AI in science and is currently building a startup around these ideas.
Who This Event Is For

Format:
Panel discussion followed by networking
Ben Sadeghi —
