Climate, Canopy & Community
Join Plant Based Treaty Atlanta on Sunday, October 11, from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM for an afternoon of outdoor movement, community building, and conversation on climate solutions at Red Top Mountain State Park.
We will begin with a relaxed, beginner-friendly 1.5 to 2-mile nature hike along Lake Allatoona to appreciate local biodiversity and discuss the vital role of rewilding and ecosystem restoration. Following the hike, we will gather for an outdoor, 100% plant-based community potluck.
Why Food Systems & Climate?
The Plant Based Treaty is a companion initiative to the UNFCCC Paris Agreement, centering food system transformation within the climate movement. Shifting toward plant-based nutrition and halting ecosystem degradation are among the most accessible and impactful actions we can take to combat global warming, restore biodiversity, and protect native wildlife.
What to Bring:
A 100% plant-based dish to share (please include a list of ingredients for transparency and allergies)
Reusable plates, utensils, and water bottles to support a low-waste, "Leave No Trace" gathering
Comfortable walking or hiking shoes
Camp chairs or picnic blankets for relaxing after the trail
$10 park parking fee (paid directly to the state park; carpooling is strongly encouraged!)
Optional: A suggested $5 donation on-site to help support Plant Based Treaty Atlanta grassroots outreach
All are welcome—whether you are an experienced environmental advocate or simply curious about sustainable living. Come meet your neighbors, enjoy great food, and learn how to get involved in local climate action!
Note: Registrants will receive details with specific trailhead and meetup location details prior to the event.
