We’re coming together for Bija Beat, an uplifting, high energy, all levels dance experience designed to wake up your body, open your heart, and set the tone for a beautiful weekend ahead.
This experience is led by Tracy Straus, founder of Bija Beat, an innovative movement practice that fuses fitness, artistry, music, and purpose to support holistic wellbeing.
Diagnosed with scoliosis at 14 and required to wear a back brace 23 hours a day, Tracy discovered the healing power of dance during her one weekly hour of freedom, a revelation that still guides her life’s work today. A trained dancer and actress with experience on Broadway and beyond, she developed Bija Beat during a fellowship at New York University, and now brings this global movement to communities seeking joy, intention, and connection.
She is also the founder of Celebrate the Beat, a nonprofit celebrating 25 years of bringing transformative dance education to over 500,000 children, and serves as an Artistic Associate with the National Dance Institute. Every Bija Beat class supports this mission, so every step you take gives back.
What to expect
We’ll begin with a one hour Bija Beat dance class with live music, blending high energy dance, cardio, creativity, and heart opening movement. This is about expression, release, joy, and community, not perfection. All levels are welcome.
Bija means seed in Sanskrit, and every class plants one. Every rhythm, every drop of sweat, every smile helps plant a seed of creativity in a child’s heart.
After class, we’ll connect and refuel together with bagels and coffee, because community is part of the practice too.
