About Event

Learn about how Compute Governance policy is made with Erich Grunewald, Senior Researcher at Institute of AI and Strategy (IAPS) where his work focuses on the AI chip export controls and compute governance.

Erich has worked directly on the Stop Stealing Our Chips Act and will be discussing its purpose, its implications for the US-China race dynamics, and its timeline from inception to passing the Senate entirely and the House committee. Moreover, he will also discuss his career path as a researcher, advice and common mistakes to avoid in policy writing and how researchers can influence policy.

At the end of the talk, we will hold open office hours and Q&A advice on navigating DC policy careers.
