Build a Robot Crab: RoboSoc x Atech x AROC
Spend an afternoon turning a pile of servos, 3D-printed parts and an ESP32 board into a walking robot crab.
As part of Helsinki Robotics Week, Aalto Robotics Club teams up with the University of Manchester Robotics Society (RoboSoc) and ATech for a hands-on build workshop. Working in small teams, you’ll assemble and program an open-source four-legged crab running on the ATech board (ESP32).
Atech is one of the hardware partners at Junction 2026 (13-15 November). This workshop is a great chance to get hands-on with their board before the hackathon, so you already know your way around it when the clock starts ticking.
What you’ll do
- Assemble the printed body, legs and servos
- Wire everything up to the ATech board
- Flash the firmware and calibrate the joints
- Get your crab walking, waving and making faces, then tweak the movements yourself
