Keynote: Offense vs. Defense in the Age of Rogue AI
Moderators: Nipun Gupta and Sumit Giri, organizers of AI Security Engineers Community Toronto
We will be sharing a brief history of how (many) AI agents have escaped containment and replay excerpts from the Black Hat USA 2026 session where OpenAI researchers Eric Wallace and Michael Dalton walked through the OpenAI–Hugging Face incident. Then the room splits in two.
🔴 Offense: Think like an attacker. Find the weak points and map out how you'd get in.
🔵 Defense: Think like a defender. Work out what would catch it, what would contain it, and how you'd respond.
Each side presents, the other side pushes back, and the moderators keep it moving.
We'll close the program with a talk on building security into AI-assisted development, before heading into networking happy hour and dinner.
Featured Talk
Title: Securing the AI Development Lifecycle: Building Secure-by-Design Code at Scale
Speaker: Geoffrey Whittington
Abstract: Agentic coding tools are producing code faster than traditional security workflows can review it. Geoffrey will talk about building continuous threat modeling, automated compliance requirements and validation directly into the AI development lifecycle, so teams can move at agent speed without giving up security standards or developer ownership.
