About Kanwal Rekhi

Kanwal Rekhi is the first Indian-American founder and CEO to take a company public on the NASDAQ and a co-architect of India’s modern entrepreneurial ecosystem. After arriving in the United States in 1967 with just $8 in his pocket, he co-founded Excelan to commercialize Ethernet and TCP/IP standards—the foundation of today’s Internet—and led the company to a successful IPO in 1987.

A TiE Co-founder and former President, Kanwal has mentored over 10,000 entrepreneurs and invested in more than 200 early-stage companies, including Exodus Communications (IPO), Poshmark (IPO), redBus (acq. Ibibo Group), Sierra Atlantic (Hitachi), and NetMagic (NTT). Today, he leads Inventus Capital Partners and Silicon Valley Quad (SVQ), continuing to champion immigrant entrepreneurship and innovation globally.
