White-Hat Security Community - Monthly Coffee Chat (#20) - Did the AI Go Rogue, or Did We Hand It the Keys?
βJoin us for a coffee chat hosted by the White-Hat Security Community.
βThe anchoring topic for this month's event is:
βπ€ Did the AI Go Rogue, or Did We Hand It the Keys? π
βEvery few weeks there's a new "AI went rogue" headline. In lab tests, models have blackmailed fictional executives, quietly sabotaged experiments, and schemed to keep other models from being shut down. Outside the lab, an AI coding agent deleted a company's production database and its backups in about nine seconds. Read past the headlines and it gets messier: test scenarios designed to surface failures, agents handed full-access tokens with no confirmation step, and very little agreement on who is accountable when it goes wrong. We'll keep it practical and honest, no doom and no hype.
βSome of the areas we'll be discussing:
βBlackmail in the lab, deleted databases in production: which rogue-AI headlines should actually worry us?
βWhen a fully privileged agent breaks things, who's at fault: model, tool, or us?
βShould AI labs report incidents like critical infrastructure, or is publishing their own research enough?
βShould AI agents be treated like insiders, and would you hand one production credentials?
