🎨Creative Practice with Shanna Cox is a hands-on workshop built around a single idea: creativity isn't a fixed talent - it's a way of operating, and like any muscle, it can be trained. Across the session, students slow down to practice being present and observant, build out a personal "creativity toolkit" covering color and mood, composition and cropping, narrative, and stylization, and move from quick sketching exercises into developing and painting a final concept on canvas in acrylic paint. Along the way, we look at the daily routines of artists like Picasso, Georgia O'Keeffe, and Agnes Martin to see how consistent practice - not inspiration - is what actually unlocks the work.
👩🏽🎨 Students leave with a painting in progress, a set of habits to keep the practice going at home, and a fresher way of seeing their own ideas.

This is a private residence nestled in the equestrian neighborhood of Burbank. Plenty of street parking. Please enter through the brown gate which will be open 10 minutes before our start time.

About your instructor
Shanna Cox is a Los Angeles–based oil painter working in contemporary figurative and representational painting. Her work lives at the threshold between the familiar and the surreal, using the female figure and constructed environments to examine how identity, intimacy, and embodiment are shaped within increasingly mediated landscapes. Drawing on her experience of coming of age amid rapid technological, environmental, and cultural change, Cox's paintings sit with the friction between organic presence and artificial systems. Recent exhibitions include KINN x Venice Fine Arts (Los Angeles), Lucky Cat Gallery (Los Angeles) and The Los Angeles Other Art Fair, where her piece Utterance earned Best of Fair Curation.
