This talk will provide an overview of the key steps for firms that are preparing for the opening of the cryptoasset authorisation application gateway on 30th September 2026. We will recap the new requirements that will apply to cryptoasset trading platforms, intermediaries, safeguarding, cryptoasset lending, borrowing, and staking. This session will offer a practical walkthrough of the FCA authorisation process (including the pre-application advice support service), transitional arrangements for firms already offering cryptoasset services, how to prepare a high quality application and will touch on the FCA’s key expectations for applicants, including regulatory capital thresholds and disclosure requirements.
